Funeral Link would like your assistance to help us support those in our community who have experienced a recent death, regardless of the cause, and are experiencing grief. We are planning a series of remembrance activities over the coming six months, in partnership with others in our community, with a theme of supporting those whose loved one has died recently. From the dedication of a memorial bench to the lighting of a candle whilst apart we wish to providea feeling of togetherness. Nothing could have prepared us for what has happened, and is continuing to happen, to those we love in our community; so many of us have been affected both in our personal and professional lives by the impact Covid-19 has had. By helping our community to be more open about grief and loss we aim to help those around us whom we love and also help the generation who come after us to be more open about the impact grief can have. If we can come together physically to do this, we will do. If not, then Funeral Link would like those who are experiencing loss to feel more connected whilst they are having to be apart.

The project is the ongoing development of an outdoor community event space in Menzieshill, that will be used for different community events and celebrations, as well as being available for other community groups to utilise when hosting events or BBQ’s. The space is also being used currently to facilitate food provision and children and youth work as we move through the different exit stages of lockdown. The facility consist of an outdoor area with picnic benches and feston lighting a covered outdoor Kitchen area and a 6mx9m proefessional Marquee with fully functioning electrical supply and lighting. The space is highly innovative and diverse and will enable the community to come together in different ways.
For example the space will be used to facilitate a Santa’s Grotto, in line with Scottish Government guidelines, at this year’s Menzieshill Countdown to Christmas, Easter family fun day and BBQ, Summer BBQ’s are to name a few of the events that will be hosted in the space. The facility is based on the grounds of Menzieshill Parish Church and therefore has access to toilet facilities and the Church halls.
This project is and will continue to be a great resource to the community for many years to come.

The main aim of the project is to bring people together in the community of Charleston through a shared interest in different types of gardening. Whether it’s growing flowers for pleasure or vegetables to eat or simply getting a hand to maintain your own home garden, Charleston Community Gardeners can provide experienced and enthusiastic volunteers and equipment to get the job done.
CCG already has a core group of three volunteers who are keen to increase their numbers from the local community who would have their base at the Church to meet and plan community activities.
